More than 300 parents and grandparents attended Ruskin Elementary’s first PTA meeting this year, demonstrating our citizens commitment to education. In addition Ruskin “dads” visited the school when kindergartners studied the letter “D”.

Many special programs and field trips keep instruction alive at Ruskin Elementary. One recent highlight for Ruskin students was the third grade’s pen pal program with the residents of Baptist Village, a local retirement community, which culminated with a visit to the nursing home where students met and visited with their pen pals.

The administrations focus for the year was school improvement. Teams began looking at data and attending workshops across the state to prepare them for years to come. The principal and a group of teachers visited a model site in LaGrange as they began preparing for the implementation of Character Development.
