Wacona Elementary is exremely proud of the fact that it has been awarded a grant by the Georgia Department of Education’s School Improvement Panel in the amount of $189,000. Funds from the awarded grant will allow for increased computer time for each student, prescriptive reading instruction for first graders, and technology training and technical support for teachers.

Throughout the year, Wacona teachers work diligently to address individual student needs. Creative scheduling allows more time to be spent on individual and small group instruction. Wacona students continually excel in extracurricular activities, winning awards at local and district science and social science fairs. One program that continues to support instruction is the mentoring program at Wacona School. In this very successful program, community and parent volunteers work one-on-one with students and provide valuable assistance in needed areas.
