WAREBORO ELEMENTARY

3379 West Church Street
Waycross, GA 31503

Denton Dial, Principal

Waresboro Elementary School enjoyed a very prosperous year as test scores increased and discipline referrals decreased. A member of the League of Professional Schools since 1994 the school received an on-site visit this year. As part of Waresboro’s improvement plan, each teacher was asked to look at weaknesses in the curriculum and in the area of teaching and to submit an improvement plan to the principal. The school scored above the system average in fourteen areas this year compared to four last year.

The school also won first place in the Okefenokee Georgia Quiz Bowl and brought home awards in the Pogofest Bowl and the Science Olympiad. Students received tutoring through the HOPE program sponsored by the First Baptist Church in Waycross and through an after-school tutorial program.

One of the highlights each year at Waresboro Elementary is the American fair where students present individual projects on a state and dress in costumes of famous Americans from that particular state.

The school is excited about the implementation of the new Character Development Program and is looking forward to even higher achievements for its students.
