Dr. Kenneth Fields, Principal

Williams Heights School is proud of its many new innovative programs, its many student award winners, and its tremendous parent support. The school and its students brought home awards in the Academic Quiz Bowl, Science Fair, Science Olympiad, Georgia Quiz Bowl, and Reader of the Year Program.

Innovative Instructional Strategies included a team teaching approach with common planning time for teachers, a homogenous grade grouping for instruction, and a site-based shared governance school improvement model. Special activities, both instructional and non-instructional, include a school wide art show, participation in the local Christmas parade, collecting canned goods for the Salvation Army, P.T.A. family suppers, a first grade “Read Around the Clock” program, a fifth grade trip to Washington D.C., a partnership with Waycross College and Grace Episcopal Church, an after-school tutoring program, and a parent sponsored clothing swap. The school received grants for an outdoor Science Classroom and a Galaxy hands-on Science Classroom. As a member of the League of Professional Schools, the principal and members of the faculty did a presentation on their “Governance Process” at a League of Professional Schools Conference.
